Shadwell Basin

Shadwell Basin is the last surviving piece of the vast London Docks, a network that once defined the city's trade. While most other sections of the historic docklands were filled with earth after they closed in nineteen sixty-nine, this basin remained open as a permanent watery landmark. Its survival offers a rare glimpse into the scale of the original nineteenth-century maritime infrastructure that allowed the port to dominate global commerce.
