Christ Church Cathedral

The low, square spire of Christ Church Cathedral marks the skyline, a rare sight among the soaring pinnacles of Oxford. This building serves as both a college chapel for Christ Church and the cathedral for the diocese of Oxford, a dual identity established by Henry the Eighth. In fifteen forty-six, he dissolved the original priory and repurposed the monastic church for his new foundation. Within these stone walls, the intricate vaulted ceiling remains, a relic of the prior medieval priory that once stood here.
