Convocation House

The Convocation House sits tucked against the south side of the Divinity School, recognizable by its steep, leaded roof and the distinctively heavy stone masonry that marks it as a mid-seventeenth-century addition to the Bodleian complex. Built in sixteen thirty-four, it served as the meeting place for the university parliament. When Charles the First convened his rival parliament here during the English Civil War, he used this very room to challenge the authority of the rebels in London.
