All Souls College

All Souls College is marked by the twin towers of its chapel, which rise above the street in a jagged, dark stone profile that stands apart from its neighbors. Unlike other colleges in Oxford, All Souls admits no undergraduates. It was founded in fourteen thirty-eight by Henry Chichele, the Archbishop of Canterbury, specifically to pray for the souls of those killed in the Hundred Years War. Every year, fellows toast the memory of a mallard duck said to have been discovered in the foundations.
