Cow Palace

The Cow Palace features a massive, barrel-vaulted roof that looms over the Bayshore landscape. Built in nineteen forty-one, this arena exists because livestock breeders demanded an indoor venue to showcase their prize animals during the rainy winter months. The project stalled during the Great Depression until the Works Progress Administration provided the labor. In the nineteen sixties, the Beatles played here, but the arena famously kept its primary purpose, hosting the Grand National Rodeo every single year since its doors opened.
