Crocker Amazon Playground Park

Crocker Amazon Playground sits on land that once belonged to the sprawling Rancho Rincon de las Salinas y Potrero Viejo, a Mexican land grant established in the nineteenth century. The park takes its name from the surrounding neighborhood, which honors the influential Charles Crocker family. Charles Crocker was a prominent railroad magnate who invested heavily in this territory south of San Francisco's central districts, paving the way for the residential subdivisions that define the area today. While the Crocker name is tied to the land's history as a major holding, the second half of the name comes from Amazon Avenue, a street that once cut through these open fields.
