Louis Sutter Playground Park

Louis Sutter Playground is named after a dedicated former president of the San Francisco Recreation and Park Commission who spent years overseeing the city's public spaces. He played a central role in the mid-twentieth century effort to transform this large, hilly expanse of southeastern San Francisco into a managed parkland. His name honors a period when the city was actively building out its recreational infrastructure to ensure every resident lived within a short walk of a public park.
