historic

The Avenue Theatre opened its doors on July 20, 1927, designed by the renowned Reid Brothers to serve as the entertainment hub of the Portola neighborhood. In its early years, the theater was a center for community life where patrons could enjoy newsreels, cartoons, and full-length features for just a dime. The theater was famous for weekly promotional giveaways, where moviegoers could collect a complete set of dinnerware by attending regularly.
