Quesada Gardens Initiative

landmark

You are standing on a block that once served as a literal dumping ground for broken appliances, litter, and illicit activity. In two thousand two, two residents named Annette Smith and Karl Paige decided to stop waiting for city intervention and began clearing the weeds and trash from the neglected median strip of Quesada Avenue themselves. What started as the simple act of planting a few flowers in a neglected patch of dirt grew into a total neighborhood transformation. This project became known as the Quesada Gardens Initiative, turning a block once notorious for safety concerns into a lush, palm-lined community space filled with vegetable beds, public art, and gathering areas.
