K.C. Jones Playground

You are walking toward K.C. Jones Playground, a site that serves as a living tribute to a local legend. K.C. Jones grew up right here in the Double Rock Housing Development after moving to San Francisco from Texas as a young boy in 1942. He spent his formative years playing football and baseball on this very ground, long before he became a household name in the world of professional basketball. The community officially renamed this park in his honor in 2003, with Jones himself returning to celebrate the occasion alongside basketball giants like Bill Russell and Nate Thurmond.
