The Bob Mizer Museum and Photographic Archives at 920 Larkin Street occupies a building once known as the Magazine, a shop that famously stocked rare periodicals, including the original issues of the magazine Physique Pictorial. Bob Mizer, the photographer behind this groundbreaking publication, was a longtime friend of the shop's original owners, Bob Mainardi and Trent Dunphy. Before passing away, Mainardi gifted this three-story structure to the foundation to ensure that Mizer’s immense body of work, which had nearly been lost to a dumpster after his death in 1992, would be preserved and shared with the public.
