Building at 33–35 Beideman Place

The building at 33-35 Beideman Place arrived at its current address on the back of a flatbed truck. It was originally constructed around 1876 at a site on Franklin Street, where it stood for nearly a century. In the early 1970s, the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency began clearing large sections of the Western Addition, forcing many historic structures to face the threat of demolition. A preservation group stepped in to purchase this Victorian residence and several of its neighbors, relocating them over several weekends in 1974 to this specific stretch between Ellis and O'Farrell streets to save them from destruction.
