A bronze mermaid reclines on a smooth granite pedestal, holding a large shell that spills water into the basin below. Sculptor Anthony Quinones cast her in nineteen eighty-four to bring a touch of the Pacific to the dense concrete of the Financial District. She sits at the entrance of a quiet courtyard, tucked away from the rush of California Street.
