Muriel Leff Mini Park

Muriel Leff Mini Park owes its existence to the sheer persistence of a local resident rather than a city planning initiative. In the early nineteen sixties, Muriel Lerner Leff began a campaign to transform a neglected lot owned by the police department into a green space for her neighborhood. She navigated a complex web of bureaucracy, eventually securing support from the police and planning departments to turn the site into a park. This project became one of the city's earliest examples of a public-private partnership, long before such collaborations became a standard way to build urban infrastructure.
