Jose Coronado Playground Park

The exterior of the clubhouse at Jose Coronado Playground is covered in eleven hundred hand-painted, terra cotta-colored tiles. Artists Eduardo Pineda and Ray Patlan designed these tiles to feature intricate, Aztec-inspired imagery of birds and frogs. This installation transformed a standard municipal building into a public canvas that honors the deep cultural roots of the Mission District.
