Grafitti Alley

Clarion Alley serves as an outdoor gallery that emerged from a collective desire to transform a blighted space into a canvas for social commentary. In nineteen ninety-two, six local artists founded the Clarion Alley Mural Project to reclaim an area that had been plagued by an illegal drug market and neglect. By painting the walls, garages, and fences along this one-block stretch between Mission and Valencia streets, they replaced an environment of intimidation with a vibrant, ever-evolving dialogue on human rights, gentrification, and local community issues.
