You are looking at a prominent survivor of San Francisco's historic Auto Row. This building, constructed in two phases starting in 1919, served as a luxury showroom for the Paige Motor Car Company of Detroit. Its architect, Sylvain Schnaittacher, designed the structure with a distinctive granolithic finish to project an image of prestige and permanence for the high-end automobiles displayed within its walls.
