Humboldt Bank Building

The Humboldt Bank Building stands as a direct response to the devastation of the 1906 earthquake. When the tremors struck, construction on the site had barely begun, clearing the way for the architect, Frederick Meyer, to completely overhaul his plans. He seized the opportunity to implement some of the most advanced fire and safety technologies available at the time. This included a structural frame reinforced with lattice girders and the installation of wire glass windows specifically designed to resist shattering in extreme heat.
