Martin Luther King Memorial

The Martin Luther King Junior Memorial in Yerba Buena Gardens is titled Revelation. Completed in nineteen ninety-three, it features a massive waterfall spanning fifty feet wide and twenty feet tall. Sculptor Houston Conwill, poet Estella Conwill Majozo, and architect Joseph De Pace designed the site as a sensory bridge between sound and silence. The thunderous rush of water from a one hundred twenty-thousand-gallon reflecting pool muffles the surrounding city noise, creating a dedicated space for reflection behind the cascade.
