Korean War Veterans Memorial

Nineteen stainless steel figures march through a field of polished granite, their ponchos whipped by a wind that seems to blow right off the page of history. This memorial honors the millions who served in the Korean War. Frank Gaylord designed these soldiers to look like they are patrolling a remote rice paddy, burdened by gear and caution. When it rains, the faces of the soldiers reflect in the surrounding black granite, doubling the patrol as if ghosts are joining the walk.
