Built in nineteen twenty-seven, this former movie house transitioned into a prestigious regional theater where playwright Samuel Beckett once saw his play, Waiting for Godot, debut in the United States. While the building sits shuttered today behind chain-link fencing, local theater companies still gather on the sidewalk to protest its slow decay and argue for its restoration as a performance space.
