Peacock Park features a broad, sloping lawn that stretches directly to the edge of Biscayne Bay. This green space occupies the original site of the Peacock Inn, which Charles and Isabella Peacock opened in eighteen eighty-three. It served as the first hotel in the settlement of Coconut Grove. The couple hosted travelers like Kirk Munroe and even early members of the Fairchild family before the wooden structure eventually burned down. Today, stone remnants of the inn's foundation still sit near the water.
