Packard Hall

Packard Hall sits on the Tufts University campus, identifiable by its red brick facade and the tall, white wooden columns that support its front porch. Built in eighteen sixty-two, the building originally served as the home for the Crane Theological School. It honors Sylvanus Packard, a benefactor whose financial support sustained the university through its early, shaky years. Professors once lived on the upper floors while classes met below, creating a space where the line between domestic life and academic study blurred completely.
