Hoboken Cemetery

Despite its name, you will find this cemetery in North Bergen, not Hoboken. It moved to this location on Tonnelle Avenue in eighteen fifty-nine, as neighboring cities began running out of space for their dead and pushed their cemeteries toward the western slope of the Palisades. The site remains a prominent example of the rural cemetery movement that reshaped how communities designed their final resting places in the mid-nineteenth century.
