Boulevard East

landmark

Boulevard East follows the dramatic edge of the Hudson Palisades, a sheer cliff of volcanic rock that has defined this landscape for millions of years. This road was engineered at the turn of the twentieth century to transform the clifftop into a premier residential thoroughfare. You are walking along a path where the stone walls are crafted from trap rock, a dense, dark volcanic material that was once aggressively mined from these very cliffs before local conservationists successfully campaigned to protect the escarpment from further quarrying.
