The locomotive you see resting in the park is a nineteen forty-six Alco S-one diesel engine. It spent thirty-two years working along the Brooklyn waterfront, where it moved freight cars between warehouses and ships. It stands here as a permanent representative of the industrial machines that once powered the massive rail yard that occupied this very ground.
