Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church

You are approaching the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church, a Victorian Gothic landmark that has stood at this corner since 1875. When it was first completed, its two hundred and eighty-six foot steeple made it the tallest structure in all of Manhattan. While the surrounding city has since grown to dwarf the church with glass and steel skyscrapers, the building remains a distinct presence on the avenue, constructed entirely from New Jersey red sandstone.
