Strawberry Fields

This area is officially named Strawberry Fields, taking its title from the 1967 Beatles song that John Lennon drew from his own childhood memories of a Salvation Army children's home in Liverpool. Rather than a traditional stone monument, the site was conceived by Yoko Ono as a living memorial, featuring a landscape of wooded slopes and meadows designed to offer a space for reflection and peace. Its location is deeply personal, as it sits directly across the street from the Dakota apartment building, where Lennon lived and where he and his wife took their final walks together before his death in 1980.
