Rose Center for Earth and Space

The Rose Center for Earth and Space is a massive glass cube that houses a seemingly floating sphere, which architects have described as a cosmic cathedral. The eighty-seven-foot-wide Hayden Sphere at its core is so heavy that it required specialized engineering to support it on tapered steel legs rather than traditional columns. The entire structure was built to de-brick science by using a transparent glass curtain wall that reveals the scientific activity happening inside to the city outside.
