Teardrop Park

Teardrop Park occupies land that was once part of the Hudson River. The ground beneath your feet is artificial, created in the nineteen eighties by using landfill material excavated from the construction of the original World Trade Center. Before this park opened in two thousand four, the entire site was a flat, featureless expanse. Designers transformed this empty space by bringing in over three thousand tons of stone, all sourced from within one hundred sixty miles of the city, to mimic the rugged geological character of the Catskill Mountains.
