100 Eleventh Avenue

Architect Jean Nouvel designed this twenty-three story residential tower to function as a vision machine. The building features a massive, curved curtain wall facing the Hudson River that is composed of nearly seventeen hundred panes of glass. Each pane is set at a unique angle and torque, creating a pixelated effect that mimics the way light reflects off the water. This complex arrangement serves a dual purpose by providing residents with expansive views while limiting the ability of people outside to see into the private apartments.
