Vinegar Hill Community Garden

The Vinegar Hill Community Garden stands on the corner of York and Gold Streets as a patch of green carved directly out of a previously vacant lot. It was officially established in 2013 after a local resident, Amber Banks, secured a grant through a city health program and navigated the extensive paperwork required to transform the space for public use. Today, the garden serves as a site for urban agriculture, featuring raised beds for vegetables, a space for composting, and even beehives tucked away from the neighborhood's industrial surroundings. It remains a collaborative project, with local students, residents, and various community organizations working together to maintain the plot.
