D'Arienzo Funeral Home has operated on Skillman Avenue in Williamsburg since 1934. It was founded by Carmela D'Arienzo and her husband, with Carmela serving as one of the first licensed female undertakers in New York City. The family tradition began even earlier with the owners' great-grandfather, who operated a local livery stable and provided the horse-drawn coaches used for neighborhood funerals long before the family entered the professional undertaking business.
