Faurschou New York

Before this building became a gallery, it served as a warehouse packed with thousands of Chinese-made shoes. The structure began its life in the nineteen twenties as a taxi depot, and you can still see the remnants of that industrial history in the exposed ceiling joists and the preserved facade. When the Danish collector Jens Faurschou acquired the property, he transformed the cavernous space into a twelve thousand square foot museum designed to accommodate monumental art that would be impossible to display in a traditional gallery.
