Mirador Queensboro Bridge

You are standing at the edge of Sutton Place, where the city abruptly settles into a quiet, riverfront calm. This area is home to a series of small, tiered public spaces known as the Sutton Place Parks. These vest-pocket parks were created in the late nineteen thirties as a direct result of the construction of the Franklin D. Roosevelt Drive. When the highway was built along the river, it severed the neighborhood from the water, so the city constructed these terraces as compensation to provide residents with renewed access to the East River.
