The Hunters Point Historic District remains a quiet pocket of nineteenth-century architecture in a neighborhood otherwise defined by rapid change. You are standing in what was once known as White Collar Row. Developers subdivided this land in the 1870s to create a prestigious enclave for middle-class professionals, moving away from the area's industrial roots. Unlike the wooden structures that dominated much of the surrounding waterfront at the time, these forty-seven row houses were built with stone and brick to project an image of stability and status.
