One Sutton Place South

One Sutton Place South stands as a premier example of early twentieth-century luxury architecture in Manhattan. Completed in 1926, the building was designed by the renowned architect Rosario Candela in collaboration with the firm Cross and Cross. It was commissioned by the Phipps family, who sought to create an exclusive residential enclave that embraced the waterfront. Its most striking exterior feature is a colossal triple-arched porte-cochere that allows vehicles to pull directly into the building, protecting residents from the elements and public view as they arrive.
