Leonard Nimoy Thalia at Symphony Space

The Leonard Nimoy Thalia occupies a basement space that began its life in 1931 with an architectural experiment. The theater designer Ben Schlanger equipped the original auditorium with a parabolic reversed floor, a design intended to ensure that every patron enjoyed an unobstructed view of the screen without having to crane their neck. While this innovation was rarely replicated elsewhere, it helped define the theater as a serious space for cinema rather than a mere auditorium.
