Peter Pan Monument

The Peter Pan monument you are approaching sits in a quiet, cloistered garden at the base of East 87th Street. This bronze sculpture portrays the boy who never grows up sitting on a tree stump, accompanied by a fawn, a rabbit, and a toad. Sculptor Charles Andrew Hafner created the work in 1928, but it did not begin its life in this park. It was originally commissioned as a decorative fountain piece for the grand lobby of the old Paramount Theatre in Times Square, where it watched over crowds of theatergoers for decades.
