Logan Square

Logan Square features a central fountain with three bronze figures representing the major rivers of the region: the Delaware, the Schuylkill, and the Susquehanna. Originally called Northwest Square, it served as a burial ground in the early eighteen hundreds before its transformation into a grand ceremonial plaza. In nineteen twenty-five, Jacques Greber redesigned the space to align with the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The central Swann Memorial Fountain remains the anchor, depicting the figures lounging amidst water jets designed by Alexander Stirling Calder.
