The Jane Gregory Garden sits behind a wrought iron fence, marked by a stone plaque set into the brickwork. It occupies a small lot that once belonged to a residential property in the Fourth Ward. Jane Gregory bought this land in nineteen eighty-four to prevent it from becoming another parking lot. She cleared the overgrown debris herself, hauling away broken glass and rusted metal to plant crepe myrtles and flowers for the neighborhood. Neighbors still maintain the space as she left it.
