The Lee and Joe Jamail Skatepark sits along the banks of Buffalo Bayou, defined by a massive, polished concrete landscape of bowls, ramps, and snake runs. Before this thirty thousand square foot facility opened in two thousand eight, the city had no major public space for skateboarders. Lee Jamail donated the funds for the park in honor of her husband, a prominent trial lawyer. It remains one of the largest skateparks in the country, attracting riders who drop into the deep concrete pools.
