Sabine Promenade

The Sabine Promenade stretches for over a mile along the banks of Buffalo Bayou, defined by a series of jagged, steel-ribbed light sculptures that glow in the dark. Designers installed this linear park to transform a neglected concrete drainage corridor into a public space. During the two thousand one tropical storm Allison, the entire project sat submerged under ten feet of floodwater. The steel structures held firm against the surging current, and the landscape recovered completely within a few months of the cleanup.
