Niels Esperson Building

The Niels Esperson Building rises above the Houston skyline with a crown of terracotta, featuring a tiered Italian Renaissance design that narrows into a distinct, temple-like spire. Built in nineteen twenty-seven, it served as a memorial from Mellie Esperson to her husband, Niels, a successful oil tycoon. During the Great Depression, the building stood as a rare sign of growth in the city. The lobby retains its original ornate brass work and hand-painted ceilings, crafted by artisans brought in from across the globe.
