Wings Over Water

A thin, silver crane sculpture stands in the center of the plaza, its wings angled as if about to lift into the humid Houston air. This fountain serves as the focal point of the area, designed to capture the spirit of migration and the wetlands that once dominated the coastal plains. Sculptor James Surls created it to honor the Texas landscape. People often gather around the pool, watching the water cascade over the bronze base while the metal bird remains frozen in flight.
