Sint-Annakerk

religious

The Sint-Annakerk in Bruges features a plain, whitewashed exterior that hides an incredibly ornate Baroque interior. While the current structure dates back to the seventeenth century, a church has occupied this spot since the thirteen hundreds. The parish once served the wealthy merchant class of the neighborhood. Inside, rows of dark wood paneling and massive, gilded altarpieces cover the walls, creating a heavy, golden atmosphere that contrasts sharply with the simple white brick of the outer facade.
