Jeruzalem Church

The Jerusalem Church rises above the surrounding houses with a slender, onion-shaped tower topped by a distinctive metal cross. Built in the fifteen hundreds by the Adornes family, this private chapel mimics the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. Anselm Adornes traveled to the Holy Land twice and obsessed over the precise measurements of the tomb of Christ. He returned to Bruges to replicate those dimensions exactly, down to the worn stone floor and the blood-red stained glass windows.
