The Old Market Bridge stands out for its curved, steel-truss frame painted a distinct, weathered blue. Originally constructed in France during the nineteen twenties, the government disassembled the structure and shipped it to Cambodia in pieces. Engineers reassembled it over the Siem Reap River to connect the market district to the residential side of town. It held the main flow of traffic for decades, serving as the city’s primary river crossing until heavy vehicles forced the construction of newer, reinforced concrete bridges nearby.
