The Living Arts Village by Artisans Angkor

The Living Arts Village features rows of open-sided wooden workshops where artisans practice traditional Cambodian crafts. It exists to revive ancient Khmer skills like stone carving, wood sculpture, and silk weaving, which nearly vanished during the upheavals of the nineteen seventies. Master carver Chhom Nim once spent months here teaching a young apprentice the precise angle needed to strike a chisel for a temple relief. The site serves as a working classroom for these students while they complete their complex apprenticeship.
