Wat Preah Prom Rath

Wat Preah Prom Rath features a bright, oversized, reclining Buddha statue encased in a glass pavilion. Built in the early sixteenth century, the temple serves as a central hub for the Buddhist community in Siem Reap. The site owes its name to a legendary monk, Preah Prom Rath, who reportedly traveled here by boat from the capital to spread the dharma. Local tradition holds that a sudden storm forced his vessel to land nearby, prompting him to establish a meditation space on this very ground.
